WMX Arnhem, debut among the elite: 15-year-old Alessia Di Luccia learns and dreams

Dream debut among the fastest in the world: Caserta native Alessia Di Luccia wraps up her first appearance in the WMX World Championship at Arnhem. Technical troubles and lots of experience—first step toward a future star?

On the selective and very challenging sandy track of the Motorsportpark Gelderland Midden, a young Italian prospect made her debut. Alessia Di Luccia, a motocross rider from Caserta born in 2010 (she will turn 16 on November 15), made her first appearance in the Women’s Motocross World Championship, WMX. A super experience for the 2025 Italian Under 17 Champion, who wasn’t exactly kissed by luck but still logged precious miles for her development. The hope is that a “new Kiara Fontanesi” will emerge sooner or later after the retirement of the promising Giorgia Blasigh, even if it won’t be easy... But let’s look back at how it went in the Netherlands.

A dream contested on her Training Husqvarna TC 125 no. 333, right after taking part in a summer camp focused specifically on sandy terrain in the Benelux, organized by the FMI for the Talenti Azzurri group of riders under the guidance of coach Cristiano Doimi. Then off to Arnhem, her first showdown with world-class motocross women at the penultimate event of this intense 2026 WMX season. While Lotte van Drunen dominated without equal, Daniela Guillen took the red plate and a flu-stricken Kiara Fontanesi limited the damage, Alessia Di Luccia completed her first world weekend with the clear goal of gaining experience, as well as taking home unforgettable memories.

With a touch of regret for some technical issues that arose during the races—precisely when points are on the line. "It didn’t go as I would have liked; we had some problems with the bike that made the race even more difficult", admitted Alessia Di Luccia on social media. Satisfaction prevails, however, for a very important first step. "There’s definitely still a lot to improve, but I’m proud to have made it this far and to have had the opportunity to experience something so important. I wanted to thank everyone who helped me in this new experience and all those who supported me from home as well. Thank you all!"
