For the announcement of the sensational move from KTM to Honda we’ll have to wait until January 1, 2026, but in the meantime Jeffrey Herlings is already laying the groundwork to take on this new challenge. After a lifetime with KTM, the Flying Dutchman has embraced the Honda HRC cause, starting training in these weeks to win again.

FROM KTM TO HONDA

Having shelved plans to retire at the end of 2025, Jeffrey Herlings has decided to continue with a very clear goal: to add to a trophy cabinet that already includes 5 world titles and 112 Grand Prix victories. "For four years I’ve been trying to win my sixth title," The Bullet recalled in an interview with the official MXGP website. "Unfortunately, every year I got injured. In 2025 I started out still recovering from an ACL injury in my knee. I came back and fractured my collarbone, but once I found my form again I did quite well, winning some Grands Prix."

WINNING WITH HONDA AS WELL

Jeffrey Herlings cannot yet officially speak about his move to Honda, but he makes no secret of his goals. "I think it’s still possible to capture the sixth world title. For my part, I keep giving it everything and, although I’m not very young anymore, I’m more motivated than ever."

TRAINING TOWARD 2026

While awaiting the official announcement, the Flying Dutchman has begun training, already aboard a Honda CRF450R. "The preparation will intensify toward January and February. Right now I train once a day, at a low heart rate, then from mid-December to mid-February what I call my boot camp will begin. The 2025 season ended just over a month ago, so it’s not the time to do anything over the top, but at the same time it’s essential not to gain weight and not to lose training habits," admitted the 5-time Motocross World Champion.
