The dedication to his mechanic and the desire for redemption after two zeros: Senna Agius recharged after the Austin triumph, but now consistency is needed.
A special and emotional triumph. It took one GP more than expected, but Senna Agius did it. In Austin he made up for the disastrous weekend in Brazil (and the previous event in Thailand), taking the first win of the 2026 Moto2 season, the third of his career after last year’s exploits at Silverstone and Phillip Island. And it means a great deal for the emotional weight it carries: the dedication to Roberto Lunadei, former rider and renowned mechanic in the World Championship paddock, who had been with Intact GP alongside the young Australian for two years and passed away shortly before the trip to Goiania due to a fatal road accident. It also highlights Agius’s growth who, if he finds a bit more consistency, can aim high this year!

The dedication to Lunadei

It’s inevitably the first thought after the GP. "A tough race, but these have been difficult weeks. We lost a key member of the team, but above all a truly, truly special person. Getting this news before the Brazil GP was a blow to the heart." Senna Agius reacted this way to the passing of his mechanic, a heavy blow for him and the Saxon team just before having to fully focus on two consecutive GPs. "This victory is for him, I hope he’s proud of me. I still struggle to believe he’s no longer here with us... The dedication is to him and his family, as well as to my fantastic team."

Lessons from the Texan GP

The track tells us of two finishes outside the points before the Austin triumph. "We did well to get back up. This weekend taught us many things, especially that with calm and hard work you can turn the situation around. I still have to improve, I want to be a rider constantly fighting for the championship." The show of strength seen on the Texan circuit is a great display of character, the kind needed with the extra motivation mentioned earlier, but not only that. Senna Agius continues to grow, with many signs long pointing to him as a potential title contender. If he finds the right consistency, he can become one with ease.
