As the saying goes, appetite comes with eating: Italtrans Racing, celebrating Moreira’s Moto2 crown, is already hoping to repeat the feat in 2026!
Winning a World Championship is already exceptional, but winning a historic one is perhaps a once-in-a-lifetime event. The Italtrans Racing Team wrote a major chapter of history this year with Diogo Moreira, bringing home a second Moto2 title after their very first in 2020 with Enea Bastianini. A second milestone achieved at the Valencia GP at the end of a sensational comeback by the Brazilian, perhaps “helped” by a few mistakes from Manuel Gonzalez, but certainly not only that. For Alex Barros’s protégé, it’s undoubtedly the best possible calling card for his MotoGP debut in 2026, while Italtrans must already think about the future—and is looking right inside its own box for another world triumph as early as next year!

A waking dream

"There was such a strong desire to win a World Championship. We had everything we needed to do well, but clearly in a championship at this level it’s very difficult. But in the end, we did it!" Team owner Laura Bertulessi’s words convey the full satisfaction of achieving the ultimate result at the end of a tough world challenge, as is always the case on the prestigious international stage of speed. "Every victory has its own flavor. Winning a World Championship is clearly a flavor you can’t taste often, but it has all the qualities to be the best of your life" she added.
When did the awareness of being close to the big result arrive? "Perhaps in Portimao we realized the victory had truly arrived, even though we had to wait for Valencia: that’s where it was confirmed". As mentioned, this is Italtrans Racing Team’s second Moto2 crown, the first in the class having come thanks to Enea Bastianini. "That too was an extraordinary event" Bertulessi pointed out, admitting however that "This year, even though it’s the second time, the emotion is immense—it’s like living a waking dream".

Present and future

The best moment of the season? "Obviously Valencia, with all our friends and sponsors close by, the happiness of the team and the rider’s family... We were all over the moon". As noted, it’s a historic title, since no Brazilian had ever won a world championship before. Not even the great Alex Barros managed that feat—but his protégé did! From Italtrans Racing’s team owner come heartfelt thanks to their freshly crowned Moto2 champion. "To Diogo I want to say thank you for wanting to compete with us, for believing in us" Bertulessi emphasized in a team-produced interview. "We truly fought all together for an important goal, and he managed to achieve it".
Then there’s a look to the future: newcomer Dani Muñoz is on board, and there’s also the confirmation of Adrian Huertas, who arrived this year after winning the Supersport title. "He’s a great rider, we know he has tremendous potential—he might need to believe in himself a bit more, but next year he’ll give us immense satisfaction" said Laura Bertulessi, who doesn’t hide the high hopes placed in rider #99. "I’d love to find myself at the end of the season with Adrian signing all the T-shirts for our sponsors. That would mean we’ll have won another World Championship! It’s a wish—let’s hope it comes true".
