In China, red symbolizes revolution but also luck, happiness, joy, and prosperity. And it’s precisely red the
ZXMoto that Federico Caricasulo tested at Pomposa.
It wasn’t a real test, not at all. The rider from Romagna did a few laps on a small 1,600-meter track by himself, with one mechanic. Nothing to do with the tests he’ll carry out with the Evan Bros team. It’s far too early to understand the true potential of this brand-new Chinese bike. In the paddock they say it’s potentially very fast, maybe already superior to the QJ, but no one has a crystal ball. As of today, it’s impossible to make predictions. The only certainty is that founder Zhang Xue is an industrial genius, a brilliant manager who is rewriting motorcycle history.
“The bike I rode was the road-going, standard version,” says Federico Caricasulo to Corsedimoto. “I like the character of the bike; it may have the DNA, the potential to be fast. At the moment it’s a street bike. The team and the company now have to do all the necessary work ahead of the first race to be able to test a bike close to the racing spec as soon as possible. In Pomposa I tried a bike like the one shown at EICMA.”
How are you approaching this new adventure?
“I’m very happy to become part of this project because I see this motorcycle company as truly determined. I saw the owner, Zhang Xue, very fired up. Moreover, I’ll be able to take part in this project together with Evan Bros
, a team of friends who launched me in the past by first letting me do the Italian Championship and then enabling me to finish second in the Supersport World Championship. It’s the team with which I achieved my best results, so I’m thrilled. I know there will be a lot of work to do because it’s a completely new project. I like the character of the ZXMoto, but from here to making it competitive, there’s still a very long way to go.”
