The two Gresini team riders are coming off a very positive 2025 and have a big goal to achieve in 2026.
Last season was truly triumphant for BK8 Gresini Racing, which was the best independent team and overall the second-best team in MotoGP. Only the factory Ducati squad, thanks to a phenomenal Marc Marquez, did better. The riders of Nadia Padovani’s team achieved fantastic results: Alex Marquez was runner-up in the world championship and best independent rider, while Fermin Aldeguer was crowned rookie of the year. They racked up 7 wins (3 of which in Sprints) and a total of 33 podiums.

Alex Marquez and Fermin Aldeguer vie for the red Ducati

After finishing runner-up in the 2025 MotoGP World Championship, Alex Marquez will see whether in 2026 he’s in a position to fight for the title against Marc and any other rivals. He will have a Ducati Desmosedici GP26 at his disposal, thus a technical base identical to that of the factory team riders and Fabio Di Giannantonio of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 team. He earned the factory-spec bike thanks to last season’s results and will look to confirm himself as a top rider in the class.
A top-tier 2026 could put him in contention for a spot in the red Ducati garage, also coveted by his teammate Fermin Aldeguer. The latter is Ducati’s future—Gigi Dall’Igna himself said so—and the young Spaniard is expected to have a year of major growth. The BK8 Gresini Racing riders will battle both for supremacy within their current team and to try to earn a promotion to the Ducati factory squad, where the renewals of Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia are anything but certain today.
For the nine-time world champion, it seems to be a matter of money, since the Borgo Panigale manufacturer could offer less than others (Honda). For Bagnaia, it’s about seeing whether in 2026 he returns to his pre-2025 levels. The rider market could bring many surprises in the coming months.
