Marc Marquez’s mind and heart are already set on the next MotoGP season. The Ducati rider will aim to secure the tenth world title of his career, backed by a Desmosedici that remains the bike to beat. And that’s before the big unknown of 2027, when completely overhauled prototypes will line up on the grid. Will it reshuffle the deck and the balance of power, or will the tune stay the same? No one can answer that.

The challenge with Alex

The Cervera phenomenon clinched his seventh MotoGP title in 2025, winning a total of 11 Grands Prix and 14 Sprints. A year to frame for the Marquez family, which celebrated a historic one-two thanks to Alex’s second place. He will be the first rival to beat in the next Championship, especially now that he has a factory Desmosedici. "Next year, my brother Alex will be my main rival from the start. This won’t change the way we do things... I won’t call him my brother, but Alex Marquez: runner-up in the world championship and capable of anything."

The champion’s recovery

Marc Marquez missed the last four races of the 2025 season after a shoulder injury caused by a collision with Marco Bezzecchi at the Indonesian Grand Prix. The Ducati rider underwent surgery a week after the injury, but his recovery is progressing well ahead of the planned return to action at the Sepang tests in February. He will soon be back in the saddle to train, without making predictions about the next MotoGP championship. "I’m not asking for anything. Just my health. Everything else—speaking of victories—you have to work to achieve. Health is the most important thing."

The contract question

Then there will be the need to resolve the contract issue. Will the agreement between Marquez and the Borgo Panigale manufacturer extend beyond 2026? "For next year, it’s clear we will have the fastest bike, which is the most important thing. For 2027–2028, however, everything is uncertain and open. In any case, if you look at my career, when I’m happy, fast, and winning, I’ve tried not to move. So the priority is to be fast, and if I can be, with Ducati. But I have to understand many things and decide what’s best for my future."
