‘Champions in Celebration’ officially marked the end of a golden year for Ducati. Marc Márquez clinched the MotoGP title, followed in the standings by his brother Alex with Gresini. The only sour note is the champion’s injury, which has kept him away from bikes for three months. The right shoulder injury is almost healed; he will soon be back in the saddle to prepare for the first 2026 tests.

The return to the bike

The rider from Lleida doesn’t want to lose another minute; he’s eager to get back into action after the forced break. “I’m much better,” Marc Marquez confirmed. “Twelve weeks have passed since the injury, and this weekend I’ll get back on the bike. I’ll remember what it means to ride again.” The MotoGP champion will sacrifice the Christmas holidays to get back on track. “No holidays, then. It’s easier for me to accept, but for Gemma, my girlfriend, it’s harder!” joked the rider from Cervera.

12 weeks out

November was an incredibly hectic month, combining intensive rehabilitation with the commercial commitments of a world champion. The effort paid off because the medical checks gave the green light: the bone has healed and the ligaments are in place. However, he warns that he won’t hit the track chasing lap times from the first minute. “It’s not all set yet to ride at 100%, but it’s enough to start at 70–80%.”
Going under the knife again and facing the recovery process was a mental ordeal as well as a physical one. His days start at eight in the morning and end at seven in the evening, following a meticulous recovery plan prescribed by doctors, between the gym, outdoor training, and physiotherapy. “The point is that not every day is a step forward; some days you take a step back, and that’s where I learned the patience that I was able to use this year on track as well.”

Future with Ducati...

Finally, the MotoGP champion also talks about the future… It remains to be seen what type of contract he will sign with Borgo Panigale. For next year, it’s clear that we’ll have the fastest bike, which is the most important thing.” However, he leaves the door open for the future: “For 2027–2028, instead, everything is still up in the air; everything will be open.” But the harmony with Ducati doesn’t seem in doubt: “We’re working to win, and everyone wants that, and that’s very important for 2027–2028.”
