Marc Marquez: "Ducati? We'll see what happens

2025 was Marc Marquez’s golden year, returning to the MotoGP throne 2,184 days after his last victory. After difficult years, he reminded everyone he’s number 1, asserting himself on the Ducati and winning the internal challenge against riders who already knew the Desmosedici, Pecco Bagnaia first and foremost.

Now Marc Marquez is aiming for his tenth career title; he has no intention of waiting. 2026 will be the last MotoGP season under the old regulations, and he can still take advantage of the gap that Borgo Panigale has managed to cultivate in recent years, especially exploiting aerodynamics.

As the new year approaches, a new challenge awaits the Cervera rider, who wants to enjoy the last days of this amazing 2025. "Sadness isn’t the right word, but I’ll obviously always remember 2025 fondly… for being the year I went all in. A bet that turned out very positive and that I’m very happy about."

Marc Marquez is the big favorite for the next World Championship; if nothing changes, he could win, once again, with extreme ease… "You should never take anything for granted, but one thing I’m clear about is that a tenth title wouldn’t be better than this year’s, considering everything it took to get here. For me, the 2025 title is the most important of all."

There’s anticipation to see him back on track after the Mandalika injury. Since then, the Ducati ace has undergone surgery and followed a very meticulous rehabilitation plan to repair the coracoid process injury and the ligaments. "Everything is going according to plan," the MotoGP champion told ‘AS’. "I had to spend another winter without holidays, just to recover, but that’s what needs to be done, because the main goal is to be at the tests in Malaysia at 100% for the first race, the one in Thailand."

The shoulder is responding well, but more time and patience are needed. "I put myself to the test every day, even when I pick up a fork or a glass of water. I train constantly, and the important thing is that all the muscles are active. A full recovery takes time and sacrifice. That’s what I have to do now to be ready for the start of next season. Recovery takes hours, but quality hours."

Finally, Marc Marquez is asked about the hottest topic: the contract renewal. The signing with Ducati seems a foregone conclusion, but the impression is that there are still details to be defined. "We’ll see what happens, but it’s true that I’m very happy where I am, and why change something that works and where you feel comfortable? But now it’s time to thank everyone for the support and affection I received in 2025 and to wish everyone a happy 2026, with the best health possible, which is truly the most important thing."
