Aldeguer recounts how important it was to get a few tips from Marquez, an experienced colleague who advised him well.
The 2025 season showed that Fermin Aldeguer is a rider who definitely deserves to be on the MotoGP grid. After a challenging start, which is normal for a young rider debuting in such a demanding championship, he managed to rack up many solid results. He won the long race in Indonesia and collected another five podiums between sprint races and full-length races. In total, he finished in the top 5 on 13 occasions across Saturday and Sunday. Not bad for someone who also claimed Rookie of the Year honors.

MotoGP, Gresini Racing: the right family for Aldeguer

The 20-year-old from Murcia made his MotoGP debut with a team that was perfect for him, namely BK8 Gresini Racing, an ideal environment for a young rider. Of course, riding a Ducati Desmosedici GP24 was a nice advantage, especially compared to the other rookies. In any case, the team led by Nadia Padovani supported and managed him the right way throughout his debut season.
After a first year with a lot to learn, Aldeguer should be even stronger in his second and will certainly aim to achieve better results than in 2025. Consistency will be crucial and will be one of the aspects that Ducati will evaluate when it comes time to decide the factory team’s line-up for 2027. After taking Marc Marquez’s spot in the Gresini box, will he also take his place at Ducati? Or perhaps line up alongside him? Who knows...

Fermin and the master Marc Marquez

Aldeguer has an excellent relationship with both Alex and Marc Marquez. Speaking of the nine-time world champion, in an interview with Radio Marca he revealed an interesting behind-the-scenes story about the advice he received from him: "I could say several things about this year. That I should have stayed calm, that my moment would come... But I have to go back in time. What I remember most is what he told me in 2022, when I took my first pole position in Argentina. He was injured, he was at home, and he returned three races later. In my case, it was a period when I was riding very well but not getting good results."
Fermin recalls that in a difficult moment, Marquez’s words helped him a lot: "Things weren’t going the way I wanted. Then Marc told me: 'Calm down, it will come. You’re fast and you have talent'. 'Calm down, it will come,' he kept repeating. I don’t know if Marc remembers it. I remember he took me aside and told me that, and I didn’t even answer him. It was my first year in the World Championship, and the fact that he came to me and said something like that really surprised and moved me."
Getting some advice from a champion like Marquez is always something to be taken into account, and Aldeguer made the most of it. Even if the words said to the young colleague may seem simple on the surface, they can actually have a big impact. If Fermin still remembers them today, it means they helped him.
