The Supermoto world has been shaken by a completely unexpected piece of news. Marc-Reiner Schmidt, the undisputed dominator of 2025, has tested positive in an anti-doping check. The German rider, representing Team 11 on a
TM Moto, had won every race this year except one, securing his fifth world title, but the victory has been revoked.
Born in 1995 in Friedrichshafen, Germany, he won the world
championship uninterruptedly from 2021 to 2025.
He himself announced the positive result for doping through his social channels. This is the message.
"Hello everyone, this is Marc. I want to speak to you directly about something important. Recently, I was informed that one of the anti-doping tests carried out on me during last season showed the presence of a prohibited substance. When I found out, I was shocked. This result is the consequence of an unintentional action. However, the anti-doping rules are very clear: every athlete is fully responsible for what is found in their body. I accept that. I respect the decision of the authorities.
This situation hurts me deeply. It deprives me of part of what I achieved in an incredible year for me on track. However, it does not change who I am, how I train, or how I race. I will use this period to work even harder, physically and mentally. My only goal is simple: to race, to win, and to prove on track, race after race, that I deserve to be world champion. Thank you to my team, my sponsors, and all the fans who support me at this time. Your support means everything to me. See you back on track soon."
Team 11, the Varese-based squad, had bet everything on the German star for their debut with TM. The results had been fantastic, and now the team is suffering a very heavy blow in terms of image. We now have to understand what the exact length of the disqualification will be.
