Marc Márquez’s physical condition has improved after his last serious injury: the MotoGP champion is back training on a bike.
It was October 5 when Marc Márquez was hit squarely by Marco Bezzecchi during the MotoGP race in Mandalika. The crash caused a fracture at the base of the coracoid and ligament damage in his right shoulder. On October 13 at the Ruber Internacional Hospital in Madrid (Spain), he successfully underwent a surgical stabilization procedure and reconstruction of the acromioclavicular ligaments. His racing season ended early, but before the end of 2025 he still managed to get back on a bike.
MotoGP, Marc Márquez back in the saddle: in 2026 he wants to win again
Last night the nine-time world champion posted photos on social media showing him in action at the Alcarrás Circuit with his
Ducati Desmo450 MX. Alongside him were his brother Alex and Diogo Moreira, the 2025 Moto2 champion and LCR Honda MotoGP rider from 2026.
It was certainly an important opportunity to test the condition of his right arm. At Ducati’s celebration, Márquez had hinted he would be back in the saddle soon, and so it was. Even though the injury suffered in Indonesia was no small matter, Marc isn’t one to feel sorry for himself and is determined to return to 100% fitness ahead of the 2026 MotoGP pre-season tests.
After winning his ninth world title, the Spaniard wants to secure a tenth as well. In the coming months, the rider market will also take center stage and he will be one of the main protagonists. He has a contract expiring at the end of 2026 and renewing with Ducati is not a given; a return to Honda cannot be ruled out.
“For next year, it’s clear that we’ll have the fastest bike, which is the most important thing.” However, he leaves the door open for the future: “For 2027–2028, instead, everything is still up in the air; everything will be open.” But the harmony with Ducati doesn’t seem in doubt: “We’re working to win, and everyone wants that, and that’s very important for 2027–2028.”
