Surra will be on the World Superbike grid: the Motocorsa team has finally made the announcement.
After deciding to not confirm Ryan Vickers and evaluating multiple riders, the Motocorsa Racing team has chosen to bet on Alberto Surra. It was officially announced a short while ago that the Italian rider will race the Ducati Panigale V4 R for Lorenzo Mauri’s team in the 2026 World Superbike Championship.

Superbike 2026, Motocorsa aims for a revival with Surra

The 21-year-old rider from Piedmont is highly motivated, aware that he has the chance to stand out in a prestigious championship and eager to make the most of it: "I am very happy about this opportunity offered to me by the Motocorsa Racing team and Lorenzo Mauri. I come from three years of experience in Moto2 and some races in the World Supersport Championship, and I’m glad to take this big step with a team that will help me grow in this category. I’m sure we will achieve many successes and have a season of growth. I’m really very happy and I can’t wait to get started!"
Surra is already familiar with the WorldSBK paddock, having competed in the World Supersport Championship in 2025, replacing the injured Aldi Satya Mahendra in the last four rounds of the calendar. On his debut at Magny-Cours he immediately stepped onto the podium (third place). In the races he finished, he was always in the top 10, showing a good level of competitiveness with the Evan Bros team’s Yamaha R9.
It will be interesting to see him in action in Superbike with the new Ducati Panigale V4 R. The Motocorsa Racing team is coming off two challenging seasons and is hoping to improve, although with a rookie like Surra patience will be required: it’s unlikely he will deliver spectacular results right away. Mauri hopes the Italian rider can surprise like Axel Bassani did, who quickly secured excellent finishes as a rookie in the championship.
