On the occasion of EICMA 2025, MV Agusta unveiled an innovative engine, a significant step forward in Italian engineering. Here are some details.
Following the unexpected presentation of the 5-cylinder engine concept at EICMA 2025, MV Agusta is proud to share further details about this masterpiece of engineering, which is already under development within the Research & Development department at the brand’s headquarters in Schiranna.
This brand-new “square” 5-cylinder engine platform will represent the next evolutionary step in terms of performance, innovation, and the excellence of Italian engineering.
Designed to redefine standards across multiple segments — from Supersport to Naked and Touring — the new platform will mark a significant evolution in the continual pursuit of perfection that has always distinguished MV Agusta.
The debut of the 5-cylinder engine is planned for a highly anticipated model, currently not present in the MV Agusta lineup, which will be unveiled in the coming years.

Some technical details

With a modular displacement ranging from 850 to 1150 cc, the new powerplant will be capable of delivering over 240 horsepower at more than 16,000 rpm and up to 135 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm, while ensuring exceptional smoothness and compactness.
Weighing under 60 kilograms, this 5-cylinder engine will combine lightness, balance, and advanced electrification technologies, integrating an electric water pump and an electric oil pump to optimize efficiency and responsiveness.
Its architecture will offer intrinsic advantages: thanks to the distinctive 5-cylinder firing order, the engine will ensure exceptional torque delivery and rideability without the need for a variable valve timing system, while guaranteeing usability at low revs and maximum power at higher revs.
The distinctive crankshaft layout — with a front three-cylinder crank and a rear two-cylinder crank in a “U” configuration — will deliver extraordinary smoothness and a significant reduction in vibrations, ensuring an unprecedented level of refinement and dynamic balance.
The result will be an engine narrower than an inline-four and shorter than a V4, setting a new benchmark in terms of compactness and performance.
