From Valencia come Marquez’s statements about his physical condition: here’s what the 2025 MotoGP champion said.
He would have preferred to race in the Valencia Grand Prix, but
Marc Marquez has to settle for being at the Ricardo Tormo circuit as a spectator. He has not yet recovered from the injury suffered in the race in Indonesia and it will take time for his right arm to return to 100%. The goal is to be fit for the first 2026 MotoGP test in Sepang (February 3–5).
MotoGP Valencia, Marc Marquez’s condition
Marquez spoke to Sky Sport MotoGP about his physical condition, and it seems everything is moving in the right direction: "The positive thing is that the new injury didn’t affect the old one. We tried to avoid surgery, but when the muscle contracture and the inflammation subsided, the fracture was moving and they performed the operation. Everything went well, in two or three weeks I should be able to put a bit more strength on it and start a tougher phase of rehabilitation."
He won’t be able to ride in Tuesday’s Valencia test, but Marc has already given his input to the Ducati team on developing the Desmosedici and he also trusts the feedback from the other Ducati riders: "In the Misano test and in the races we understood what the baseline is, from there we need a few aerodynamic upgrades and I don’t know… I haven’t seen the program, but Ducati is certainly working to try to be even stronger, also because the others are closing in. Will I be there on Tuesday? No, I’m going home, because my priority now is rehabilitation. I’ve even canceled my December vacation, I don’t have much time, I’m a bit on the limit. We have a technical meeting, surely Alex and Pecco will choose the right path. Then we’ll have the test in Malaysia to reconfirm everything."
Marquez domination in 2025. And in 2026?
The Marquez brothers finished first and second respectively in the 2025 MotoGP standings, so there’s great satisfaction, but Marc knows there could be surprises in the next Championship: "
It’s been a great year for me and the whole Marquez family, we’ll see next year. Bezzecchi is coming, Pecco will certainly come back strong, there’s Acosta... Every year is different."
It would certainly be nice to see a more hard-fought championship, but that will depend on several factors. The reigning champion will be the favorite with Ducati; we’ll see if the competition will be able to challenge his path toward a tenth world title.
