The history of motorcycle racing has a new home. On the occasion of the FIM Awards 2025 in Lausanne, the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) unveiled the Racing Motorcycle Museum.
Hosted in the historic former FIM headquarters in Mies, Switzerland, the museum celebrates riders, motorcycles, tracks, and innovations that have defined the global impact of motorsport. We sampled its value at the inauguration on December 6.

A three-level experience

The visitor experience unfolds across three floors: the basement is dedicated to the FIM’s archival collections; the ground floor houses the permanent Hall of Fame and rotating temporary exhibitions; the first floor brings together the historic bikes of the greatest champions, memorabilia, trophies, and a mix of multimedia elements and materials to immerse visitors in the past, present, and future of motorsport.
The exhibition path on the first floor is built around three thematic pillars, designed to engage both long-time enthusiasts and newcomers.

Technology: past and present compared

In the section dedicated to technology, visitors can explore the fundamental principles that drive motorcycle performance. The exhibition follows a dual narrative: vertical, tracing the timeline of historical innovations up to today’s prototypes, and cross-disciplinary, analyzing the mechanical and electronic differences between various disciplines.

Legends in the spotlight

The emotional heart of the museum. Through the stories of the personal journeys, challenges, and triumphs of the icons of motorsport, the exhibition allows visitors to relive epic races, connecting the public with the human side of racing. Legends at the center of the story.

From track to road

Racing as a research laboratory. The extreme demands of competition drive the development of technologies that, once tested and adopted on the track, are transferred to consumer products. By delving into systems such as traction control and aerodynamics, visitors discover how innovation from the track delivers safety and performance on the road for everyday motorcyclists.
