Noah Dettwiler’s smile with his dad Andy: the first beautiful image of the Moto3 rider after the very serious Sepang crash. The recovery will be long, but good news has already arrived. Today, Andy Dettwiler wanted to share on social media a photo with his son Noah, the first of the
Moto3 rider since the very serious accident in Sepang. The worst was feared, and subsequent updates confirmed that it came very close to the worst possible outcome. Instead, we are talking about the continued progress of
Noah Dettwiler, heading back to Switzerland to continue treatment, and of an image that shows him with a shy but beautiful smile.
Tributes from the MotoGP paddock
This was the shared sentiment, and there have been constant thoughts for both him and José Antonio Rueda after what happened. In Portimão, the bikes and helmets of the riders—first and foremost Ogden and the Red Bull KTM Ajo boys, followed by many others—displayed a sticker with the numbers of the two
Moto3 riders: a sweet message of support for a quick recovery, as much as possible given the circumstances. Worth noting was Ogden’s front row with thoughts for his garage mate; at the end of the Moto2 race Collin Veijer dedicated second place not only to his family, but also to his future teammate, whom he greeted via video call before stepping onto the podium to celebrate.
A sigh of relief
Those who were awake well before the start of the
Moto3 race remember what happened. Noah Dettwiler and José Antonio Rueda were involved in a terrible accident that, as we would only learn much later, left both of them on the asphalt in cardiac arrest. The swift intervention of the medical staff, led by Dr. Charte, truly performed the first miracle, followed by an airlift to the Kuala Lumpur hospital to continue with the urgent care required. Fortunately, increasingly positive updates arrived, and last week finally the green light for his return to his home country, where he will continue the recovery process, one step at a time.
