In 2026 the former Moto2 rider will take on Supersport. Before then,
Albert Arenas put himself to the test in an ice challenge and on four wheels.
During this winter period, some people rest while others dive into new challenges.
Albert Arenas, a former Moto2 rider with a future in Supersport, falls into the latter category: in his case he “doubled” the wheels, putting himself to the test in the first round of the ice championship
Andbank GSeries 2026 (split into the GIAND, Side by Side, Kartcross and Rally3 categories), established in 1996 and over time becoming a benchmark in southern Europe. The Spaniard had fun
at the wheel of a Kartcross, and ended the race day in 11th place (level on points with 10th).
Given the time of year, it was a winter test on four wheels—ideal for someone who can never stay away from engines! A fun moment before starting to focus on what awaits him.
Albert Arenas left the World Championship after clinching the Moto3 title in 2020, thus joining the elite of world champions. He then moved up to Moto2, initially on the Aspar Team’s Boscoscuro, before contesting four more seasons on KALEX machinery with GASGAS Aspar (2022), Red Bull KTM Ajo (2023) and Gresini Racing (2024–2025). Looking at the results, you can’t deny a certain consistency, but standout performances have been hard to come by in this always highly selective category. His highlights include 3rd place at the 2023 Catalan GP and 2nd place this year at Mugello. 2026 will be a new chapter, to be written in the World Supersport Championship with AS Racing and the Yamaha R9, already world-beating this year both in the
manufacturers’ standings and with rider Stefano Manzi. An excellent opportunity to show what he’s capable of.
