Jorge Martin was crowned MotoGP World Champion in 2024, capping off a brilliant season that established him among the paddock’s leading figures. In 2025 he competed in only seven races with Aprilia due to numerous injuries throughout the year. In 2026 he will have to prove his full worth with the RS-GP, aware that expectations for him are quite high.

The weight of fame

For the Martinator, it was a year to forget, due to injuries, surgeries, and long periods of rehabilitation. The joy of winning the world title quickly faded as he prepared to launch into a new challenge. "I always feel under the spotlight. For one reason or another, I’m always everywhere. Whether it’s the interview on ‘El Hormiguero,’ ‘La Resistencia,’ me wanting to leave Aprilia, getting injured, coming back…," he tells the Spanish edition of Motorsport in an interview.
Jorge Martin takes this attention philosophically and considers himself among the protagonists of the World Championship. At the top of the Olympus where the big names are: Marc Marquez, Pedro Acosta, Pecco Bagnaia, and Fabio Quartararo. "These five are the riders who are always there, and I hope to keep being one of them. Not out of ego; I don’t care whether people talk about me or not, but I feel that’s how it is, we’re a bit on the front line."

But it’s impossible to know what would have happened if he had stayed at Ducati... "We’ll never know. But looking at Alex Marquez’s season and this year’s race times compared to 2024, I think I could have been in the hunt." He does, however, acknowledge the extraordinary level shown by Marc Marquez. "I’m not saying I could have beaten him, because it’s impossible to know right now. What Marc has done this year is simply phenomenal."

His relationship with social media

In a world where social media is taking over, even in MotoGP, Jorge Martin has his own way of thinking and acting. "I don’t look much at other riders’ accounts. In fact, I’ve muted many of them because I don’t feel like seeing their posts." At the moment, the most charismatic rider is Marc Marquez. "From a media perspective, whatever Marc says always carries a lot of weight and power; he has many people behind him who support him. But more than his strength on social media, it’s the impact of his words in a press conference."
