Two multiple world champions, the kind who made modern MotoGP history, at
KTM’s headquarters.
Jorge Lorenzo, a 5-time world champion (two in 250cc, three in the premier class), and
Dani Pedrosa, a three-time title winner (two in 250cc, one in 125cc), were among the VIP guests in Mattighofen ahead of the Christmas holidays. For Pedrosa, this is par for the course, having been the Austrian brand’s test rider for years, while for Lorenzo it’s something new. It follows the announcement of his new role alongside Maverick Viñales, KTM Tech3 rider, with whom he is working full throttle to be ready for the 2026 World Championship. Two MotoGP
Legends delivering year-end greetings to everyone who works tirelessly at the factory.
A Clockwork Orange: a heavyweight movie reference from Jorge Lorenzo to describe his
first visit to the factory. With thanks to Pit Beirer,
KTM Motorsport Director, for his first tour.
“I found a very organized and united team with a winning mentality,” Lorenzo added.
“Now it’s up to us to showcase the great potential they have, with lots of podiums and victories!” That’s exactly what KTM is hoping for too, especially after serious financial trouble: with Bajaj Auto now the majority shareholder at 74.9% following the initial rescue, the Austrian brand is seeking stability—something that will still take time.
The behind-the-scenes turmoil didn’t help on track either, but Pedro Acosta’s results at the end of the season tell us the climb back has begun. Maverick Viñales, who was making significant progress on the RC16 before his injury, wants to be a protagonist in
KTM colors as well, now counting on the help of Jorge Lorenzo. Let’s not forget the crucial contribution of
Dani Pedrosa, the brand’s star test rider and even a podium-finishing wild card in April 2024 at the Jerez GP, which so far stands as his most recent participation in a Grand Prix event.
