ASBK Phillip Island Prove Libere 2: Stauffer, Maxwell e Waters in 67 millesimi

Aspettando il doppio-turno di qualifiche ufficiali, nella mattinata del venerdì a Phillip Island i 37 piloti iscritti al round inaugurale dell’Australian Superbike (e ProStock) 2012 sono scesi in pista per 20 minuti di prove libere, sufficienti per proporre un tris di protagonisti al comando con riferimenti cronometrici da evidenziare.

Jamie Stauffer, campione ASBK 2006 e 2007, ha viaggiato sotto il muro dell’1’34” con un significativo 1’33″968 ai comandi della prima Honda CBR 1000RR Fireblade 2012 del Team Honda Racing, soltanto 41 millesimi di vantaggio sul proprio compagno di squadra Wayne Maxwell, 67 sul campione 2009 Josh Waters ai comandi della prima Suzuki preparata dal Phil Tainton Racing.

Tre piloti in un soffio, costretto ad inseguire invece il campione in carica Glenn Allerton, 4° e staccato di 0″460 con la BMW del Procon Racing, con distacchi contenuti nell’ordine di 1″5 anche per gli altri due piloti Suzuki Australia, il nuovo acquisto Ben Attard ed il tri-campione neozelandese Superbike Robert Bugden.

Con tre “big” dell’ASBK al vertice, completano la top-10 i “privati” Ben Henry (Suzuki CUBE Racing), Beau Beaton con l’unica Ducati iscritti dal concessionario locale North Coast V-Twins e Scott Charlton, rigorosamente in sella alla propria Suzuki del Racers Edge Performance. Tra le “ProStock” prosegue il duello tra Linden Magee (Procon Maxima BMW) e la Honda del G.A.S. Racing condotta da Nick Waters, separati da 0″5 con il figlio d’arte capace addirittura di portarsi in 8° posizione assoluta.
