Tourist Trophy: Anstey a 131 mph nelle ultime prove, oggi le prime gare

Fuochi d’artificio per l’ultima giornata di prove del Tourist Trophy alla vigilia delle prime due gare in programma all’Isola di Man. Quattro tra i migliori interpreti del Road Racing hanno superato il muro delle 130 mph, con Bruce Anstey in particolare arrivato vicino al record del “Mountain Circuit”. Passato da Relentless Suzuki a Padgett’s Honda, il “Kiwi” è riuscito a mettere a segno un giro veloce in 17’13.46 a 131.431 mph, soltanto 1″ dal primato 2009 di John McGuinness in 131.578 mph. Sette vittorie all’attivo al TT, Anstey sin dalla giornata inaugurale di prove del lunedì è parso a suo agio con la Honda CBR 1000RR Superbike preparata da Padgett’s, proponendosi tra i potenziali favoriti per la vittoria nella prima gara in programma oggi alle 12:00, seguita alle 15:00 dai Sidecar. Logicamente il binomio Anstey-Padgett’s risulta temibilissimo sulla carta, ma John McGuinness a suo solito è stato in grado di viaggiare su di un passo impressionante con una migliore prestazione in 130.615 mph con la Fireblade di Honda TT Legends. Il 15 volte vincitore al TT, secondo soltanto nella classifica di tutti i tempi a Joey Dunlop (26 affermazioni), partirà per primo grazie al #1 ben in mostra sul cupolino, ma dovrà confrontarsi con Guy Martin terzo in graduatoria a 130.075 mph (primo a superare il muro delle 130 mph nella conclusiva giornata di prove), avvicinato da Michael Dunlop che ha fatto suo il 4° tempo tra le Superbike ed il best time tra Supersport e Superstock. Con questo poker d’assi la gara delle Superbike, ed in prospettiva il Senior TT di venerdì 10 giugno, può diventare un “istant classic” nella storia lunga un secolo del Mountain Circuit, con il primo raffronto cronometrico di “Glen Helen” ed il quarto di “Ramsey” (dove ieri Anstey manteneva una media di 144 mph!) particolarmente selettivo per una corsa che si deciderà sulla distanza dei 6 giri. Scorrendo la classifica in quinta posizione c’è Gary Johnson a precedere Michael Rutter buon sesto con la Ducati 1098R abitualmente adottata nel British Superbike, lasciando alle proprie spalle Cameron Donald (Honda Wilson Craig Racing) ed il buon Daniel Stewart. Non migliora i propri riferimenti Keith Amor, tornato in sella dopo il brutto incidente di mercoledì con una spalla sinistra infortunata, ma sicuro di poter attaccare con la Honda TT Legends. Più problematica la situazione di Ryan Farquhar, caduto a “Keppel Gate”, trasportato per accertamenti in Ospedale: nessuna conseguenza per lui anche se, alla luce di quanto successo alla North West 200, non è certamente un periodo fortunato. Se Conor Cummins al rientro dopo il brutto botto del Senior TT 2010 è 17° con la Kawasaki McAdoo, Simon Andrews (protagonista del BSB) è 25° e primo dei “newcomers” proprio davanti al nostro Stefano Bonetti in gara con una Kawasaki Superstock, con legittime ambizioni di avvicinare la top-10 nella settimana di attività all’Isola di Man. Si prospetta come sempre una classe molto combattuta con le Honda del Wilson Craig Racing di Cameron Donald e William Dunlop pienamente in corsa, seguiti da Guy Martin che ottiene il sesto tempo. Resta in 25° posizione Stefano Bonetti, ovviamente con lo stesso crono nella classifica assoluta delle “Solo”. Sempre nella top-3 Bruce Anstey seguito da William Dunlop e John McGuinness che tra le Stock e Supersport corre con Padgett’s. Sesto tempo per la Suzuki di Guy Martin (nella foto), mentre il nostro Stefano Bonetti non si migliora ed è 33° assoluto con la propria Honda CBR 600RR.
